While the Vegas Golden Knights’ season didn’t go nearly as they had hoped, they were able to finish it out strong with a big 7-4 win over the Blues on Friday night.
Perhaps the biggest performer on the night was Jack Eichel, who managed two goals and an assist in the win. Despite his disappointing final stretch of the season, there is still plenty to build off for him moving forward. Not only was he able to come back from an extremely rare neck procedure, he also performed relatively well overall, finishing the season with 14 goals and 25 points in 34 games.
“It’s always good to win,” Eichel said. “Every day you’ve got to be grateful to play in the NHL. We have a sold-out arena and a lot of fans come to see us play. It’s our duty to give our best no matter what the future is. It was good to see us win. … Winning’s a lot better than losing.”
Eichel wasn’t the only Golden Knight who showed up on Friday, as Evgenii Dadonov, Jonathan Marchessault, Max Pacioretty, William Karlsson and Zach Whitecloud all had multi-point evenings for the Golden Knights against the Blues. Despite the strong end to the season, however, questions will remain at large moving forward as to what changes this organization may or may not make moving forward. Regardless, there is still plenty of potential for this team in 2022-23, as their roster is loaded with star talent. If they are able to remain healthy, things should go much better for them next season.
