Golden Knights deal former Top Pick

The Golden Knights traded center Cody Glass to the Nashville Predators on Saturday, moving on from the first draft pick in team history.

In exchange, Vegas acquired center Nolan Patrick, who was traded from Philadelphia to the Predators in a separate move.

Patrick was the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft by the Flyers, four spots ahead of Glass, and the move provides each with a change of scenery.

The Knights also acquired center Brett Howden from the New York Rangers for a 2022 fourth-round pick and minor league defenseman Nick DeSimone.

Did the Knights get better in this move? Jesse Granger of The Athletic believes so:

It’s difficult to have full confidence that Vegas will help develop Patrick, though, considering this trade is made in the first place because Glass didn’t develop in the same spot Patrick will be in. The Golden Knights are inside their window to contend and will expect Patrick to produce.
