Contract Talks Between Hague & Golden Knights Remain Quiet

Last week, it was reported that Nicolas Hague’s camp was growing frustrated with the little communication they have had with the Vegas Golden Knights regarding a contract extension, and at this point it seems like things haven’t improved.

Hague, 23, remains without a contract for the 2022-23 season, a rather shocking development given his growth over the past few years. It was widely reported last week that he is considering skipping training camp this coming week if a new deal is not yet in place, and according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, that continues to be the plan.

Pagnotta sent out a tweet days ago saying that Hague is back in Las Vegas, but talks between the two sides remain limited. On top of that, the belief is that he will return home to continue training if a deal is not worked out in the coming days.

This past season, Hague suited up for 52 games, scoring four goals and 14 points while averaging a career high 18:40 in ice time. While he lacks top pairing potential, the six-foot-six rearguard is a promising player, and proved to be valuable in a third pairing role this past season. One would think he would be relatively cheap to re-sign, making this situation an extremely confusing one. If a deal isn’t worked out before camp, there is a strong chance he may be traded before the 2022-23 season begins.
