In the final exhibition matchup vs. the Washington Football Team, Baltimore Ravens starting running back J.K. Dobbins suffered what appears to be a severe knee injury.
Dobbins was injured on the tackle when Washington’s CB Jimmy Moreland’s shoulder made contact with Dobbins’s fully extended leg. Moreland went low to avoid oncoming Ravens lineman Bradley Bozeman’s block.
If the injury is a serious one, it would be a crushing blow to a potent Ravens ground game. The 2nd year man out of Ohio State University was primed for a larger role in his sophomore season. As a rookie, he totaled 805 yards on 134 carries (6.0 YPC) and 9 TD’s.
Next in line behind Dobbins is bruising power back Gus Edwards. A highly productive and effective back, Edwards lacks the speed and explosiveness that Dobbins offers.
The Baltimore Ravens will play the Las Vegas Raiders Week 1 on Monday Night Football. This much anticipated matchup will be the first regular season game with fans at Allegiant Stadium.
