The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (13-9. 5-4) have won three of their last four and are building momentum after two big wins against Colorado State and the UNR Wolf Pack.

Senior guard Bryce Hamilton scored a career-high 45 points in the team’s 88-74 road win over then 16-1 Colorado State, and he followed up that performance with a 17-point showing against the rival UNR Wolf Pack. Junior forward Donovan Williams also scored 17 points in the win after missing the team’s last two games.

“I’m proud of the guys. They continue to battle, they continue to fight,” head coach Kevin Kruger said Wednesday after the win against UNR.

“They’ve come in everyday, we’ve talked multiple time about injuries, and COVID pauses, and audibles, and they just continue to come to work. They continue to have a great attitude about it. We’ve got guys that are a little chippy but they’re chippy because they want to be out there playing more… we don’t mind that one bit. If you want to get out there because you want to go dive on the floor and help the team win, we’re all for you being frustrated, or wanting to get out there. or bothering me to get out there.”

The Runnin’ Rebels are slowly but surely climbing the Mountain West standings with their pair of wins. They now stand in sixth-place in the conference and just three games behind first-place Boise State.

“I feel like we’re clicking a little bit,” Bryce Hamilton said after the win against UNR. “We’ve got a tough one on Saturday against Utah State, they’re probably playing the best right now in our conference. We’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing, keep getting better every day and get ready for that game.”

The Runnin’ Rebels will take on the Utah State Aggies (14-9, 5-5) in Logan, Utah on Saturday, Feb. 5th at 3 pm. The game will be nationally-broadcasted on CBS.
