The Raiders sign six-time Pro Bowler DT Gerald McCoy

After the first day in full pads, the Raiders have announced they’ve signed six-time pro bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy after having him in the building for a workout.

Field Yates reported earlier that McCoy was visiting with the Raiders, and after having a great workout, the Raiders signed the veteran pass-rushing defensive tackle.

McCoy didn’t play in 2020 due to a ruptured quadriceps; however, after fully recovering from his injury, he received some interest over the past few weeks.

McCoy has played in 139 games, where he’s racked up 334 tackles, 59.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. He will be competing for a starting job, likely as a three-technique defensive tackle in Gus Bradley’s defense. His primary competition will be Quinton Jefferson, Soloman Thomas, Kendal Vickers, and Darius Philon.
