Following the Raiders Week 2 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Raiders will be releasing CB Nevin Lawson “due to injuries at other positions,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Lawson served a two-game suspension to start the season for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
Lawson is 30 years-old and has been with the Raiders since 2019. He fell down the depth chart in training camp due to the emergence of rookie CB Nate Hobbs.
If Lawson clears waivers, Rapoport suggested that the Raiders hope to bring him back on the practice squad.
If Lawson’s Raider career is over, he finishes with 14 starts in 25 games, 85 combined tackles, 9 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a sack.
