With the Raiders first game set for Monday night, Raiders fans will be pouring into Allegiant Stadium for the first time in the regular season. Opened last season, the stadium is one of the most beautiful in the entire NFL. Leaps and bounds better than the Raiders old home in Oakland, here are just some of what Raiders fans will get to see.
Al Davis Memorial Torch
After legendary owner Al Davis passed away in 2011, the Raiders erected a monument in his memory. The monument pays tribute to his classic quote “The fire that burns brightest in the Raiders organization is the will to win.” What started as a fairly simple torch in Oakland, is now an 85-foot tall inferno in honor of the Hall of Famer. It is also historic as it is the largest 3D printed object in the world.
Windows With A View
One of the most unique features of Allegiant Stadium is the retractable glass windows. The windows, located behind the Al Davis torch, slide open to reveal a beautiful view of the Las Vegas strip. This will always be unique to Las Vegas as no other team could offer such a view. The backdrop included with the massive torch creates one of the most stunning visuals in the NFL.
A Raiders Shrine
For Raiders fans, Allegiant Stadium will be a Mecca. Firstly, Raiders fans will get to see the many Legacy Bricks that line the walkways to the stadium’s entrance. Then when they enter, they will get to see monuments to Raider legends throughout the stadium. These include all the Hall of Famers and retired numbers throughout Raiders history. The true shrine is the stadium itself. Truly, it is the stadium the Silver and Black have always deserved.
While many fans miss the history that was left behind in Oakland, the Raiders are looking to build new history in Vegas. A city ready to explode in the sports world, the Raiders will be front and center on the biggest stage in a city that features a lot of them.
