Las Vegas Raiders Cut players, get down to 80 players on the roster

As part of the NFL’s procedure on its roster cuts, the deadline to get the roster down to 80 players is 4:00 pm today. The Silver and Black have officially waived 5 players and put another on IR:

CB Rasul Douglas

OG Parker Ehinger

P Corliss Waitman

WR Marcell Ateman

DT Darius Stills*

LB Darron Lee*

Darius Stills was waived with an injury designation which means if he clears waivers, he’ll go to the Raiders IR. Darron Lee was put on the IR list.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders resigned OT Devery Hamilton, who was previously on the roster earlier this offseason.

Roster cuts are not done. All NFL teams must be down to 53 players by 4 p.m. on August 31st.

Getting down to 53 players for the Raiders will be difficult as depth issues were a big factor in the Raider’s mid-season collapses over the past two seasons. Gruden and Mayock will need to consider how many players to keep at each position and factor in the potential of injuries and how it could impact the team.

Should the Raiders keep 4 guards or 7 corners? These will be the tough decisions the team faces ahead of the final roster cuts. However, the one clear thing is this team is lightyears ahead of the previous three seasons in its depth.
