Former Raiders first-round pick CB Damon Arnette has signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad. Arnette was released by the Raiders in early November following controversial social media posts. He was a free agent until now and will have a chance to revive his career with a new team.

Arnette was the Raiders’ second pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 19th overall selection. He missed significant time during both of his years with the Raiders due to injury.

Arnette joins a Dolphins cornerback group that is led by Xavien Howard, one of the better corners in the league. Byron Jones, Justin Coleman, and fellow former first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene share most of the remaining snaps at corner and all stand in the way of Arnette seeing the field this season.

But clearly, the Dolphins see upside in Arnette, and getting him in the building before the season ends will give Arnette the opportunity to impress the staff before they start to make personnel decisions leading up to their offseason program.

Arnette played 20 defensive snaps when the Raiders defeated the Dolphins 31-28 in September, and Arnette was charged with allowing one completion on one target for eight yards, per Pro Football Reference.
