Firas Zahabi gave his thoughts on the upcoming mega-fight between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley. The MMA coach says Jake Paul could win because “Paul is basically on PEDs.”
The bout is scheduled for August 28th at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Paul is 3-0 in his boxing career, beating AnEsonGib, Nate Robinson, and Ben Askren.
His opponent is former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley, who has a record of 19-7-1.
Coach Zahabi was on his popular Youtube Channel doing an AMA. “This is a very tough fight for Tyron,” Zahabi said. “Why would Tyron Woodley possibly lose this fight? One, the guy he’s fighting is bigger, and he’s a big puncher.”
Being a bigger puncher doesn’t translate to winning, alone. But as the video continued, Zahabi had some more interesting things to say.
“I didn’t want to mention it, but my number one factor, Jake Paul’s corner, they’re going to be on all sorts of substances… I don’t think they test. Maybe the week of the fight, [but] there’s no USADA. And I think, I didn’t want to say, but I think that’s a major factor. When I say he’s bigger and stronger and he’s more athletic, I think he’s basically on PEDs.”
He continued, “I hate to say it, but I definitely think Jake Paul is going to be on PEDs. It exists in the world of boxing, just like it exists in MMA. And I don’t think Tyron will be on PEDs. I think Tyron will be totally natural. Does it make a difference? It absolutely does.”
Jake Paul might or might not be on PEDs, but unless Zahabi has proof, we can’t be certain what Paul or Woodley, for that matter, might be taking.
Zahabi did say he is picking Woodley to win because they’ve trained together in the past and that Woodley has a big right hand.
