Jose Aldo vs Pedro Munhoz will be elevated to the co-main event at UFC 265

Breaking news hit earlier today that Amanda Nunes tested positive for Covid. Her positive test means she will have to withdraw from her upcoming fight against Julianna Pena at UFC 265. That’ll probably be rebooked later this year, but with UFC 265 being so close, Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz will be brought up and slotted in as the co-main event.

After three straight losses, Aldo finally got a victory against Marlon Vera, a fight in which he dominated. Aldo is currently the 5th ranked fighter at his position, taking on the 9th ranked fight in Munhoz.

Munhoz’s latest victory came over Jimmy Rivera, a fight in which he landed multiple calf kicks. According to MMA Junkie, “The difference for Munhoz this time around was the addition of the calf-kick to his arsenal as he just assaulted Rivera’s lead leg from the first exchange in the fight until the very last. When the final horn sounded, Rivera’s leg looked like he was hiding a football inside of it from all the swelling as Munhoz admired his handiwork”.

UFC 265 will be an interesting card, with stars like Jose Aldo, Derrick Lewis, among others.
