Just weeks ago, Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone spoke with reporters and let it be known that while surgery was a possibility to deal with his back issues, he was seeking out other options as well.

From the sounds of things, any other options didn’t appease to the 29-year-old, as general manager Kelly McCrimmon told reporters on Monday afternoon that the star forward will likely be undergoing back surgery in the near future.

“Mark Stone has been seeing consultants and meeting with doctors, meeting through our training staff, he’s got another meeting in L.A., it appears to be quite likely that he’ll have back surgery on Wednesday and would be available for training camp,” McCrimmon said. “It would be rehabbed over that period of time. That’s not 100% for certain, but it’s certainly the most likely outcome at this time.”

Stone battled the injury from the get go of the 2021-22 campaign, and missed plenty of time as a result. Despite playing at less than 100% however, he was still quite productive, managing nine goals and 30 points through 37 games. The hope now is that, assuming he has the surgery, it will allow him to be fully healthy and ready to dominate in 2022-23 like he has shown he is capable of in the past.
