Vegas Golden Knights star forward Mark Stone was limited to just 37 games last season due to a nagging back injury, and it is believed he may be dealing with that same issue once again.

On Tuesday afternoon, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli said that he can say with confidence that Stone is dealing with another back issue. He also mentioned that the Golden Knights have yet to learn the exact severity, but it is obviously a very scary situation for both the player and organization.

Stone, 30, was hoping to be healthy for the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign after undergoing surgery last offseason to repair his back issue. Whether this is the exact same injury or a separate one remains unknown, but any time a player is dealing with pain in his back is never a good sign. Making it even worse was that he was back to playing at an elite level with 17 goals and 38 points in 43 games.

The obvious hope here is that continued rest is all it will take for him to recover, but it appears we will have to wait and see.
