The Vegas Golden Knights took to Twitter on Thursday evening to announce the signing of defenseman Joe Fleming to a three-year, entry-level deal.

Fleming, who was invited to the Golden Knights development camp this past July, spent the 2021-22 season with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the United States Hockey League (USHL). The undrafted 6-foot, 215-pound blue liner recorded two goals and 16 points along with 202 penalty minutes in 60 outings. He also suited up for two playoff contests, registering a lone assist.

The Golden Knights also let it be known that Joe Fleming will be spending the 2022-23 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Sherbrooke Phoenix. He is expected to spend just one more season in the junior ranks before turning pro for the 2023-24 campaign.

As shown from Fleming’s stat line this past season, he isn’t a player fans should expect much offense from. That said, he is one tough customer, which is clearly what interested Golden Knights management. It is a nice signing for an organization that really lacks prospects.
